Season 5 is about to start. After Blizzard’s smart decision to remove a lot of the bad maps from the ladder pool, expectations were high. This season, Abyssal Caverns and Nerazim Crypt have been removed and two new maps are taking their slots. Both maps are available right now on Battle.net, and you can find them by creating a custom game and browsing Blizzard maps, or simply by searching for their names. Yesterday, season 3 on the Battle.net ladder started. It introduced 4 new maps, which were a rather sad affair. On the very same day, however, iCCup decided to celebrate the 1-year anniversary of StarCraft 2 by releasing four “Anniversary Edition” maps – map finely tuned over long periods of time, meant for high-level play. To play on any of these maps, log on to Battle.net, click create or join under custom game, and search for “+iccup +ae”.

We recommend you do so, in fact, because this Friday at 19:00 we’ll organize a small Swiss style tournament with these maps! There’s also a strong possibility we’ll be introducing these maps into our tournament map pool, so go ahead and try them out! Continue reading →
